Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a preventive approach to managing pests and diseases in an effective, economical, and environmentally sound way. IPM methods use biological, physical, behavioral, and/or chemical controls to manage and maintain cannabis crop health, while meeting compliance requirements with Health Canada and other applicable regulations.

Module topics in the course will address:

1. The systems of Integrated Pest Management.
2. Scouting, monitoring, and recording pest populations and disease impacts.
3. Common pests and diseases – identification and life cycles, natural enemies and damage to crops.
4. Control and management methods using IPM actions and applications, including environmental, health and safety, and quality considerations.
5. Best practices for pest management.
6. Best practices for disease management.
7. Environmental conditions and controls.
8. Assessing the effectiveness, efficiency, and economy of your IPM program and devising future mitigation strategies for pest and disease management.

Suggested Background
Participants should have a background in horticultural, floricultural, or agricultural operations. Experience with Integrated Pest Management systems would be beneficial.
